Excerpt from Tress’ Diary Journal
Well, that was a memorable day to say the least! The temple itself wasn’t really anything special, a bunch of simple puzzles, everything arranged linearly… It wouldn’t have been remarkable on its own.
Buuuut~! I actually managed to meet someone there, and they didn’t attempt to “bounty hunt” me or whatever it is that seems to try. It was Reece, if you can believe it! You know, that guy from college? He seemed fine, if a little distracted most of the time, but I can’t really blame him, because there was also a real live freaking mage in the same temple! Seriously, talk about lucky. Even if the idiot ran away before I could ask his help, at least I know there are still mages to find out there. The mage (Roc) seemed real obsessed with friendship too, which, uh, well I admittedly didn’t doubt mom but wow she hit the nail on the head with how weird mages are. And this guy seemed tame in comparison with all the others that mom has talked about.
Anyway, we did a bunch of simple trials for him, and Roc gave me this neat feather that lets me jump better (it’s fun, I’ve been messing around with it all day! Feels weird to barely push off the ground and just sort of soar up), and also enchanted Reece’s goggles with, like, special visual effects that correspond with his emotions? Or something similar to that. Honestly it looked really cool to me, lots you could mess around with that, but it seemed to distress Reece since he’s worried the government or whatever would just take his goggles away from him. Seems like a weirdly high estimation for the government to me, I’ve gotten away with keeping all my magic items just fine, but if he’s worried, I’m willing to help him out. …Okay, fine, I can be honest here, part of me is excited to have someone to hang out with more. Maybe mom’s right about me needing to go make friends…
Um, anyway! I’ve got the okay from ole’ Marigold, so I’m heading into town tomorrow morning to find him and bring him over! …I’m realizing I don’t know where I’ll find him, exactly, but I’ll work something out! I guess see my next entry in this journal if you want to see how that goes! …Wait. this is the last page. Uh, guess I need to get a new journal? Look there. I guess if this is the end of this journal though...
