Excerpt of a new journal
Freedom feels good. I… needed to put that down somewhere. I had lost track of the years I had been confined to that ruin, forced to wait patiently for visitors who seemed fated to never come.
I knew something had to have happened that made me wait that long, and especially when that utter exaggeration of a judgement went unchallenged, but when I exited the temple for the first time and was met with trees instead of buildings, it really made it clear that what happened was nothing good. What had happened? Am I the only mage left? …No, surely not, there has to be others. At least those similarly trapped and hidden away by their own tests.
I see a city in the distance, but its architecture is foreign. I considered going to visit it, but I’ve decided against it. Those two had seemed mostly unacquainted with mages, but well acquainted with dragons. Even if I’m mistaken, I don’t see any warm welcome waiting for me in a place with that kind of opinion of dragons. But if I’m not mistaken, the tyranny they must live under, with no mages to guide them… I surely must act eventually. But rushing would be foolish.
I hope those two learn to get along well. I hope they know at least enough to be aware of how special it is for even one magic item to be given to peasants like them, let alone two…
