Excerpt from Reece’s Expedition Report, document scanned and emailed to Muse Aeon
Expedition into: The Temple referred to as “The Temple of Friendship”
Date: XX/XX/XX
Involved Individuals: Reece Archer, Tr Unknown Bandit
Author: Reece Archer
Major Expedition Findings: A total of Two One magic items were discovered, which included a feather. The feather seems to be capable of leaving a Fiendish Effect, which causes those affected to display illusory symbols that seem to correspond to their emotions. The Fiendish Effect was accidentally triggered and has stuck onto one (1) Reece Archer. The magical item was stolen mid transport back to the city by one (1) self-proclaimed Treasure Hunter. Retrieval likely impossible. Economic impact undetermined, but the standard estimate would anticipate this represents a loss of profits of somewhere in the ballpark of $15,000. If insurance accepts the claim, the remaining $7,500 may be covered out of Reece’s pocket.
Ancillary Findings: Seemed to be a place of high importance to a specific individual in ancient times and seemed to have been built expressly for a ritual of some sort. More specifically, the location was seemingly built to be traversed as a group of two, although traversal as a singular individual might be possible. Rooms seemingly followed the common archeological pattern of being sectioned off into spaces of singular purpose.

Okay, Reece? You listening?
One: No, your pay is not going to be docked for being robbed when we didn’t even expect to find a magical item in the first place. Don’t be dumb.
Two: You should really get a better eraser or use whiteout or even just, start over from scratch when you write something you don’t want me knowing. However, I’m not going to pry into who “Tr” is or why you wrote “two magic items” first or how you explored a ruin that was “built to be traversed as a group of two” alone because
Three: oh my god this is the least you’ve ever written in the “Ancillary Findings” section are you okay???? (I still don’t understand why you insisted on calling that section that, I know it’s where you put everything you actually enjoy… You’re the one making these reports, you can just change the title!)
PLEASE take a day off if you aren’t already planning to, you’ve got two whole weeks of paid leave still AND an additional week coming in two weeks provided you actually do use a week. You’re due for a holiday anyway. No, the previous times you said you’re using paid leave don’t count. Don’t lie I know you literally put in overtime hours working from home those days. That’s not how this works.
…Actually, you said you were finally affected by a Fiendish Effect, right? Isn’t that your first one? I know that’s normally the sort of thing other archeologists celebrate (rite of passage or whatever), and even if I doubt you share that attitude, I’m going to use it as an excuse to force you to take the next week with paid time off. And not the “rest of the week,” a full 5 workdays. It’ll give you time to acclimate to the change and/or celebrate, in case you want to surprise me.
I WILL burn and/or delete any documents you send me until you actually take a break so don’t even think about doing work. And no, don’t even think about worrying we’re understaffed, I can handle this easily. This is literally the least busy time of year, its fine.
Love you buddy :P
